The first itinerary takes you to the 6th century monastic settlement at Glendalough in the most picturesque setting. Travel through Co. Wicklow via the Blessington Lakes and spend time investigating the vales of Avoca.
An alternative itinerary combines two of the most famous areas of Co. Wicklow. The beautiful town of Avoca originally inspired Thomas Moore’s ‘The Meeting of the Waters’, and more recently the location of Ballykissangel – a popular Irish TV programme. After a chance to visit the handweavers, head for Powerscourt, an estate dating back to 1300, with a majestic house set in extensive gardens.
