Along the Garden Trail

Exploring the landscapes of Ireland

Overview Itinerary Highlights Accommodation Details Enquire

The West to East Coast Garden Trail tour takes in several visits to notable gardens in Ireland, while also blending in essential cultural and heritage elements for the avid traveler. This tour endeavors to take in Ireland’s finest landscapes, from maintained and wild.

In many ways this tour provides a study of contrasts, from urban to rural. Like a beautiful bucolic Lakeside manor house in the wilds of Connemara, followed by a lively session of traditional music in the medieval city of Galway, legendary for its music scene. Or the contrast of landscapes between the well maintained landscapes of St. Brigit’s Garden, designed around to four seasons of the Old Celtic Calendar to the wild and craggy bogland and mountains of Connemara, known as Europe’s last wilderness.

St. Brigit's Garden,

Ireland’s natural landscapes are renowned, but equally impressive are its fabulous array of maintained gardens. Like St. Brigits Garden, designed around to four seasons of the Old Celtic Calendar. And the famed Victorian Walled Gardens of Kylemore Abbey in Connemara. And Demesne Gardens of Birr Castle, near the midlands region of Ireland. Guests will also enjoy guided tour of Kilfane Glen and Waterfall by Susan Mosse, wife of one of Ireland’s most famous potters

This tour also provides an excellent contrast with the living traditions and sophistication and urbanity of modern Ireland. Guests will explore the vibrant cities of Kilkenny and Galway, each medieval in origins and thriving cultural arts and scenes for Irish traditional music. Guests will also enjoy Dublin, thriving capital of fashion, art, commerce and politics. As a balance to all this city life, we will explore Ireland’s cultural traditions, with an afternoon of activities at Cnoc Suainn, literally “the Restful Hill” in Irish, an aptly named retreat in the bogland of Connemara dedicated to the study of Ireland’s environment and cultural heritage.
