A highschool trip to Ireland does not have to mean long hours trapped in a coach. Signpost Tours develop itineraries with participating schools that will interest thier students and keep them excited about the day ahead. We immerse students in Irelands past while not ignoring the fact that Ireland has leaped into the twenty-first century, courtesy of the 'Celtic Tiger'.
Declan Burke, the founder of Signpost Tours has been teaching for 13 years and has been group leader on many trips in the US, Europe and Ireland. Each tour is desgned by him, the emphasis being on what the student will take from the trip each day.
We include all the usual attractions, the castles, museums, folkparks and shops but then we add a little more. We always include a farm walk with our own Tom Joyce who talks about his family, emmigration, the famine and the lake monsters found on his farm - it's true!! Take a walk through a bog, climb Croagh Patrick or ferry to the Aran Islands. We include an overnight trip to an Irish speaking island where students hear the native language being spoken. They learn to play the tin-whistle and are invited to join into the local Ceili dance at night.
Declan will work with the group leader far in advance talk to students interested in coming to Ireland. If there is any project work that students are interested in completing while in Ireland, we will try to accomodate this.
I have included one tour on our Student Tour Page to give you a taste of our High School Tour.
We want your students to love the Ireland we know. They will come to Ireland wanting to know the meaning of being Irish and leave with the feeling that they have become a little Irish themselves.
