Connemara, South Mayo, Aran Islands & The Burren Itinerary

Day One

  • The tour begins in Galway City, known as the "City of the Tribes".


  • The cobbled pedestrian street that runs through the heart of Galway city is lined with bohemian cafes, traditional pubs and craft shops.


  • Galway's real appeal is its vibrant music scene and buzzing pub scene.


Day Two

  • You have the option of cycling to the village of Spiddal via the coast road and then through to the picturesque village of Oughterard via Moycullen.


  • Travel by ferry across Lough Corrib to Inchagoill Island, where you will be given a guided tour.


  • Continue by ferry using Corrib Cruises to the beautiful Ashford Castle. It is a short cycle to your final destination: the picturesque village of Cong.


Day Three

  • Cycle through"Joyce Country"--one of the most beautiful, tranquil areas in the West of Ireland.


  • Cycle from Cong to Clonbur and on to Finny, around Lough Nafooey and into the charming village of Leenaun.


  • Continue along the banks of Lough Corrib, through Maam and down into the sleepy village of Leenane which sits at the head of Killary Harbour.


Day Four

  • Cycle to Tully Cross.


  • This quiet road continues into Letterfrack village which lies just outside the Connemara National Park.


  • Travel across the Sky Road for spectacular panoramic vies. The day ends in Clifden Town.


Day Five

  • Travel the "Bog road" across a land dotted with 100's of tiny lakes. The peaks of the Twelve Pins mountain range dominate the horizon.


  • Continue to Screeb and south to Carraroe - your final destination for the day.


  • Check out the beautiful Coral Beach in Carraroe.


Day Seven

  • Tour of The Burren, meaning "rocky place."


  • Visit the majestic The Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland's most spectacular natural wonders.


  • Cycle to Ennistimon which has a fabulous stepped waterfall, then continue on to Kilfenora and Lisdoonvarna.


  • Finish your day back in Doolin.


Day Eight

  • Take the scenic coast road to Ballyvaughan via Black Head and Fanore Beach.


  • Black Head is a wild, exhilarating place to stop off on your journey North, as is Fanore.


  • The day ends in Ballyvaughan.


Day Nine

  • Ballyvaughan is situated on the northern edge of The Burren and is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding countryside.


  • This stage of the tour brings you along a delightfully quiet road into the heart of The Burren National Park.


  • The road back to Ballyvaughan allows panoramic views of the sun setting over Galway Bay.


Day Ten

  • The last day of the tour will bring you along the coast road to either Kinvara or Galway city.


  • Take some time to explore the town's old stone harbour which is home to a number of Galway Hookers (traditional sailing boats), the Dunguaire Castle and some great pubs.


  • The tour ends back in Galway City where you can reward yourself with refreshments in the many cafes, restaurants and bars.
